Huanggang Normal University and Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka jointly hosted the 9th International Conference of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka and the 4th China-Sri Lanka Exchange and Cooperation Forum from December 5th to 9th in Colombo. Chen Xiangjun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Huanggang Normal University, led a delegation to participate in the event.
Chen Xiangjun delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony, emphasizing the conference as a significant step to strengthen China-Sri Lanka relations and promote mutual cooperation. Ms. Asha Karunaratna, the Acting President of Sabaragamuwa University, welcomed the delegation and highlighted the importance of global collaboration for sustainable human development.
The conference included 45 parallel forums, covering various topics such as economic, cultural, and educational exchanges between China and Sri Lanka. Over 300 scholars from 33 countries participated and presented their research findings. Notably, the China-Sri Lanka Exchange and Cooperation Forum utilized a hybrid format, combining both online and offline components.
During the visit, the two universities discussed the development of the Confucius Classroom, signed agreements for continued collaboration, and unveiled the “China-Sri Lanka Cultural Exchange and Economic Development Research Center.” The ceremony also featured the presentation of the “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship.”
Chen Xiangjun expressed optimism for future collaborations, aiming to enhance the strategic partnership and friendship between China and Sri Lanka for the benefit of both nations.
